Sash window restoration is a niche craft, and one Matt is passionate about. He left school at sixteen to train as a carpenter in the UK, where sash windows line almost every street, and has spent more than 25 years at the trade.

Who looks after the work?
Matt does. MST is owner operated, so the person who quotes your job oversees it from start to finish and signs off every window.
Will draught proofing change how my windows look?
No. The high performance seals sit discreetly within the frame, so your windows keep their original appearance.
Do you clean up after the job?
Always. Floors and furniture are protected while Matt works, and he removes every scrap and tests each window with you before he leaves.
Can old timber windows be as efficient as new ones?
Properly restored and upgraded with the right products (brush pile seals, acoustic or vacuum insulated glass), they can match or outperform modern windows.
Can you upgrade the glass without replacing the window?
Yes. Broken or old panes can be replaced with acoustic, privacy or slim vacuum insulated glazing that fits the original sashes.

How much do sash window repairs cost in Sydney?

How long does the work take?
It depends on how many windows need work and their condition. Matt gives you a clear timeframe with your quote and keeps disruption to a minimum.
Is it better to repair or replace old sash windows?
Repair is often the better choice. Original timber is high quality, and restoring it keeps the character of your home. Matt will give you an honest view on site.
Do you work on heritage and modern homes?
Yes. Restoring the original windows is usually the preferred approach for heritage homes, and Matt is happy to work alongside your builder or architect. Modern timber windows get the same care.
Can you repair rotten window timber?
Yes. Matt cuts back the decayed timber and rebuilds it with Evermend epoxy timber repair, then sands and paints it to match. It saves the original window rather than replacing it.
Do you replace seized pulleys and missing weights?
Yes, definitely. Seized pulleys are freed or replaced, and missing or mismatched weights are replaced so every sash balances properly.
