Meet Matt – Timber Window Restoration Specialist

Matt left school at 16 to pursue a career in carpentry in the UK, where sash windows are an iconic part of the architectural landscape. Learning from seasoned craftsmen, he quickly developed a deep understanding and respect for the art of traditional window restoration.

​

After relocating to Sydney, Matt’s specialist skills were in high demand. He was quickly snapped up by a local window restoration company, where he honed his craft further. Not long after settling in, Matt decided to take the next step—and MST Window Repairs was born.

​

For over 20 years, Matt has been restoring and draught-proofing timber sash windows across Sydney.

 

He is passionate about his work, seeing sash window restoration not just as a trade, but a time-honoured craft that has stood the test of time. He firmly believes that traditional timber windows, when properly restored and upgraded with the right products, can match or even outperform today’s modern window systems.

A fully qualified carpenter, Matt combines traditional skills with the latest technologies, for example brush pile draught-proofing and vacuum-insulated glazing. This unique approach allows him to improve energy efficiency and comfort while preserving the charm and character of heritage homes.
